Before getting married abroad, you will often need to obtain a Certificate of No Impediment from your local Registry Office.
A Certificate of No Impediment is a certificate which confirms there are no objections to a proposed marriage or civil partnership.
Once the Registry Office has received notice of the marriage, it will be publicly displayed for 28 days. After this period, your CNI will be issued provided that no objections have been made to your intended marriage.
Some countries require CNIs to be no older than two or three months at the time of the wedding. Some countries may require the certificates to be translated. You must follow the rules of the country where you are going to get married - if you have any doubts, contact your wedding planning or the marriage officials.
